DreamHack Winter 2013

On March 5, 2014, the clan were assigned to the four groups in the draw . For this purpose, the teams were divided into four lottery pots. The four semi-finalists of the DreamHack Winter 2013 came in pot 1. The teams that were eliminated in the quarter-finals came in pot 2. The remaining teams were divided into pots 3 and 4. The clans were distributed in the pots as follows:

From each lottery pot, a clan was drawn to one of the four groups A – D. During the drawing, the following group composition resulted:

Preliminary round

From the preliminary round, two teams per group made it to the final round. The teams from lottery 1 first met the teams from lottery 4 and the teams from lottery 2 against the teams from lottery 3. The winners and losers of a group each faced each other. The winner of the winning match was first in the group. The loser of the loser match was eliminated from the bottom of the group. In a final competition, the winner of the losing match and the winner of the winning match made up the second place in the final round. All preliminary round matches were played in best-of-1 mode. The games were scheduled for March 13th. Due to the crash of the server of the game distribution platform Steam , to which all players have to be connected, there were delays of several hours, which is why all games were only ended at 2 a.m. the following day.

Group A

The first game of this group was overshadowed by several breaks. In the game between Titan and Mousesports , the PCs from LEGIJA (mouz) and ScreaM (Titan) had to be exchanged. After almost two hours, the result was clear. Titan won on de_dust2 with 16:05. In the second game between Virtus.pro and HellRaisers the tournament was extended for the first time, as VP a 10: 5 on de_mirage at halftime was not enough. In the first extension, VP finally won 19:16. In the winning match VP was able to prevail with 16: 7 on de_mirage. Virtus.pro thus entered the final round as first in the group.

In the losers match of Group A, Mousesports was the only participant under the German flag to be eliminated with 9:16 against HellRaisers on de_dust2. The Ukrainians from HR beat de_inferno Titan in the game for second place in the group with 16:14 in the 30th round.

Virtus.pro reached the final round as first in the group and Hell Raisers as second in the group.

Group B

The ninjas in pajamas could on de_dust2 3DMAX! Beat 16: 5, while Team LDLC won 16:13 against the Australian participants from Vox Eminor on de_inferno. In the game for group place 1 NiP retained the upper hand and prevailed on de_inferno with 16: 7 against the French team LDLC.

3DMAX! defeated de_inferno Vox Eminor in the loser match 16: 7. However, the Danish clan could not prevail against Team LDLC . You lost with 13:16 on de_inferno.

Ninjas in pajamas and Team LDLC were the finalists of this group.

Group C

In the first game of Group C, Reason Gaming surprisingly beat the winner of the DreamHack Winter 2013 fnatic with 16:12 on de_inferno. The US American iBUYPOWER team had to admit defeat to Team Dignitas with 8:16 on de_nuke. In the game for group victory, Dignitas then sent Reason Gaming to the lower bracket with the same result on de_inferno.

Fnatic was able to secure the second place in the final round with two victories on de_inferno in the loser's round.

Group D

CompLexity was able to prevail on de_inferno with 16: 6 the French clan Mystik. Natus Vincere had to admit defeat to LGB eSports 8:16 on the same map. When the two winners met, LGB eSports won 16:11 on de_dust2.

After Clan Mystik won on de_dust2 against Natus Vincere , you had to face CompLexity again . The French had to surrender again to the Americans on de_nuke.

LGB eSports and CompLexity secured the final round places in this group.

Final round

The final round was held from March 14th to March 16th, 2014. It was held in best-of-3 mode. In the quarter-finals, the group leaders were each assigned a group runner-up. The semi-final and final participants were determined according to the knockout system . In the game Ninjas in Pajamas against CompLexity , the Americans surprisingly secured the first map. On de_dust2 they were now 11: 2 ahead and in the end they won with 16:12. On de_nuke the ninjas in pajamas showed their playful and tactical superiority, and prevailed with a clear 16: 2. On the de_train decision map, the Swedes again won 16:11 and advanced to the semi-finals. Team Dignitas turned out to be another semi-finalist . In the first game against HellRaisers on de_dust2 device got a pentakill. The end result of this match was 16: 7. On the second map de_mirage, the HellRaisers were able to work out a 9: 6 half-time lead on the CT side. After the break, Dignitas dominated and won 16:10. Virtus.pro was also on after two maps. With the home crowd behind them, the humiliating Poland , the team LDLC on de_mirage. After a 15-0 halftime score, the bears still needed four rounds to win on the first map. In the second game on de_inferno, too, the balance of power was clear. After all, the French got eight more laps. The fourth quarter-final match took place along with the semi-finals on March 15th. In the Swedish duel between LGB eSports and fnatic , favorite fnatic won the first Map de_inferno with 16:11. LGB eSports then started a comeback. With victories on de_mirage and de_train they reached the semi-finals and met virtus.pro there . They showed themselves there again and won the first game on de_inferno with 16: 8. After a relapse on de_mirage, where they were able to save themselves after 4:11 half-time deficit, but lost there with 17:19, the Poles showed themselves to be superior again on the de_train decision map and won with 16: 7. In the other semi-final game against Team Dignitas, the ninjas in pajamas were already the final opponents of Virtus.pro after two matches. They defeated the Danes on de_inferno with 16: 6 and on de_nuke with 16: 5.

final

The final duel between Virtus.pro and Ninjas in Pajamas started at 1:30 pm on March 16, 2014. The players chose de_mirage as their first map . The Poles started on the terrorist side and won the pistol round and the two following rounds before GeT_RiGhT could defuse the first bomb. Virtus.pro could not be deterred. So after twelve rounds it was 9: 3 for the bears. This lead could no longer be taken away. With a strong 11: 4 it went into the break. The Poles were also able to win the second round of pistols on the anti-terrorist side. In contrast, NiP was able to secure the subsequent “Anti-Eco” round. Xizt had a decisive part in this , who got four kills. After the Swedes caught up to 7:12 due to financial advantages, the game highlight of the match occurred in the twentieth round. Xizt overlooked Snax, who had previously crept and then crouched in a corner . He waited until f0rest was also in sight and at that moment did both with the M4A1-S . Subsequently, Snax ended the round by eliminating the character of Fifflaren . NiP could not catch up again in the final phase and in the end lost the first match with 9:16. The best player in the first game was byali with 68 points and 25 kills.

The second map played was called de_inferno . Virtus.pro also got off to an outstanding start here, winning the first pistol round and the four subsequent rounds on the anti-terrorist side. The highlight of the first phase of the game was a tetrakill by byali in round 5. After NiP caught up two points, after three more rounds it was VP 8: 2. After a varied final part of the first half, after 15 rounds it was 11: 4 for the Poles. The second round of pistols went to the ninjas in pajamas , who were now in a phase of strength and caught up to 9:11. Then the Poles took over again. With the exception of one “Eco-Round”, NiP lost the remaining rounds, so that the map ended with the result 16:10 for virtus.pro, which was the winner of the tournament thanks to this victory.

The Polish team around Filip “Neo” Kubski , Janusz “Snax” Pogorzelski , Wiktor “TaZ” Wojtas , Paweł “byali” Bieliński and Jarosław “pasha” Jarząbkowski were able to use their home advantage and win the $ 100,000 bonus. It was virtus.pro's first great success with the Polish cast.
