Ladislav "GuardiaN" Kovács (born July 9, 1991 in Bratislava ) is a Slovak e-athlete . Kovács has been under contract with Natus Vincere again since 2019 .

Career

Even before switching to Counter-Strike: Global Offensive in 2012, Kovács was very successful in its predecessors Counter-Strike 1.6 and Counter-Strike: Source . He played for IQFIGHTERS, DEFEATERS, Corecell, and SGC, among others. Since there were fewer and fewer events and leagues in Counter-Strike: Source, Kovács also switched to the Counter-Strike: Global Offensive scene. Kovács was there in more than 5 teams within 2 years before he was able to score as a stand- in at Virtus.pro . When Dauren “AdreN” Kystaubayev finally resigned from Virtus.pro and Kovács already had experience, he was taken under contract.

In the same year he switched to Natus Vincere , which has not been successful since the switch from Counter-Strike 1.6 to Counter-Strike: Global Offensive . Kovács has been playing for Na'Vi since December 9th. Kovács suffered the greatest stroke of fate during the MLG Major Championship: Columbus 2016 . Natus Vincere & SK Gaming , then still Luminosity Gaming , went into the Major as the main favorites. Despite a hand injury, Kovács played the entire tournament with five-fold sensitivity. Despite a strong performance, the team around Kovács lost. Because of this injury, Kovács took a break. The following month, Kovács was voted No. 1 in the world with the HLTV.org team .

After the big change in the Na'Vi lineup, Kovács was able to lead his team to another success with the great victory at ESL One New York 2016 . But then there were no further successes for Kovács. The team even gave up legendary status at the PGL Major . That was enough for Kovács and announced on July 28, 2017 that he would be stepping down from the active Na'Vi lineup . As the reason for this decision, he cited the discharge of Danylo Teslenko from Natus Vincere , as he could not play under the new lineup as it suited him best.

On August 3, 2017, Kovács was presented at FaZe Clan . Guardian has been back in the Natus Vincere squad since September 20, 2019 .
