The Intel Extreme Masters XII - Oakland (short: IEM XII - Oakland ) was an E-Sport -Veranstaltung which from 14 to 19 November 2017 the California cities Burbank and Oakland took place. There was one tournament each in the disciplines Counter-Strike: Global Offensive and PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds .

Counter-Strike: Global Offensive

Twelve teams took part in the tournament in Counter-Strike: Global Offensive , nine of which were invited. They were divided into two groups of six teams each:

The teams played against each other in the group stage in a round-robin tournament in Burbank . For wins without extra time there were three points, for wins with extra time two points, for defeats with extra time there was one point and for losses without extra time there was no point for the respective team. The playoffs were played in the knockout system . While the quarter-finals and the semi-finals were held in best-of-3 mode, it took three map victories in the final for the decisive tournament win. The semi-finals and the final were played in front of an audience in Oakland .

    In the PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds tournament, 20 teams with four players each played a total of 8 matches. All games took place in Oakland . The teams received points in each match through their final placement and kills, which were added together at the end and thus decided on the final placement shown in the following table.

    Television broadcast

    The TV broadcaster ProSieben reported on the tournament in German-speaking countries on November 19, 2017 from 11:15 p.m. The program was followed by 230,000 viewers. This corresponded to a market share of 3%. Among the 14 to 49 year olds, the transmission reached 6.2% of the television viewers.
