The Saeb Mausoleum ( Persian آرامگاه صائب, IPA : ɑɾɑmɡɑh ɛ sɑɛb ) is located in Isfahan , Iran . The mausoleum is the burial place of Sa'eb Tabrizis , the famous Persian poet of the 17th century. He was descended from Shams-e Tabrizi , the spiritual teacher of Jalal ad-Din ar-Rumis . Saeb's father was a famous merchant in Tabriz . When Isfahan became the capital, he moved there with his family. He tried for a long time to get the honorary title Malek osch-Schoara ( Poet Laureate ) from the court of Abbas I , but he did not succeed and emigrated to India . There he became famous. After his return to Isfahan in the Abbas II era , he was warmly welcomed and received the longed-for title Malek osch-Schoara .
The building history of the mausoleum belongs to the Pahlavi era, but the tombstone dates from 1676. The tombstone mentions the date 1087 of the Islamic calendar .
