Lists on the subject |
The Safari Arms Matchmaster is a pistol from the well-known " Colt M1911 " series specially developed for sport shooters. It is designed very closely to the original Colt models, with particular emphasis on ease of use, even for more demanding shooting without particular performance restrictions ("out of the box"). The pistol can still be adapted ( customized ) by shooters to various individual needs .
Working principle
The pistol, like its model M1911 Colt Government , works as a recoil loader based on the Browning principle. The barrel is also locked here via a chain in the form of an "8" and two lugs in the barrel.
When the shot is fired, the recoil moves the slide backwards and the rear part of the barrel is pulled down out of the lock by the chain, the barrel tilts downwards in the system. As it moves backwards, the slide pulls the empty cartridge case out of the chamber with the aid of the extractor . The cartridge case hits the ejector, which conveys it out of the weapon through the ejection opening in the slide in a backward, upward movement. The slide is then driven forward again with the aid of the locking spring, pushing a new cartridge, if available, forward out of the magazine and into the cartridge chamber of the barrel. When the starting position is reached, the chain pushes the rear part of the barrel upwards and locks the system in the slide.
Furnishing
For sport shooting, the weapon has several design features:
- Grip : The grip has a finger hook so that the shooter's hand does not move excessively even when the trigger is released several times. To improve the grip, a checker ring is attached in the lower front area.
- Trigger guard : The guard is provided with a hook that can be used for a finger of the second firing hand or to rest on a barricade.
- Carriage : The large, deep millings on the sides in the rear part of the carriage serve to improve the handling when By loading.
- Match barrel : For precision even without special accessories, the standard version is equipped with a match barrel with an adapted barrel guide in the front part of the slide.
- Further features : The weapon is also equipped with various accessories to accommodate out-of-the-box use, such as a spring guide rod for the locking spring, a micrometer sight, weight- reduced hammer, extended operating levers for the slide catch, the usual, manual Colt Safety and the standard match deduction.
If necessary, the weapon can be further adapted with improved target optics, larger magazines and other barrel systems. With an interchangeable system , the pistol can be converted from .45 ACP to the 9 × 19 mm caliber, which is more common in Europe .
