history

On the initiative of Messrs Björkman and Nylander from the trading company Kristianstads Biografteater , a forerunner of the Svensk Filmindustri , the film theater was opened on February 12, 1906. In the first five years of its existence it was still called Biografteatern Göta and offered 90 spectators. In the course of a change of ownership in 1911, the cinema was renamed Biorama and expanded to 360 seats. In 1939 the cinema was given a new look after renovations that included new murals, wider seating and new lighting. At the same time the cinema was with neon neon sign are modern advertised, but the term Biorama proved to be too long for the sign. So a shorter name was finally found with the term Saga , which at the time was widely used in Swedish cinemas. In 1983 and 1997/98 the house was renovated again, which brought the old wall paintings by Edward Hald and Vicke Lindstrand to light.
