The Metro Station Saint-Fargeau is a station on the Line 3 to the Paris Paris Métro .
location
The station is located in the Saint-Fargeau district of the 20th arrondissement of Paris . It lies lengthways under the Avenue Gambetta at its intersection with the Rue Saint-Fargeau.
Surname
It is named after the Rue Saint-Fargeau. Louis-Michel Le Peletier de Saint-Fargeau (1760–1793) was a politician during the French Revolution . He voted for the execution of King Louis XVI. and was murdered by a royalist for this reason .
History and description
On November 27, 1921, the station went into operation with the opening of line 3 . At that time it ran from Porte de Champerret to Porte des Lilas . In 1971 the route of line 3 was changed, since then it has been running from Gambetta to Gallieni . In this context, the section from Gambetta to Porte des Lilas became an independent line 3 bis on April 2, 1971 .
Under an elliptical , white tiled vault, the 75 m long station has side platforms on two parallel tracks. Their side walls follow the curvature of the ellipse. It is one of the few stations that has an access building. Its construction (architect: Charles Plumet ) was necessary because the lower station next to the staircase received elevators.
vehicles
Initially, Sprague-Thomson trains were on the route , and they ran there until 1967. In that year, Line 3 was the first to receive the new MF 67 series, which runs classically on steel rails . These trains are still in use on Line 3 until 2017, but have been shortened to the length of three cars.
Remarks
- ↑ 3 bis , also 3 bis or 3bis, corresponds to the German 3a
- ↑ The usual length of MF-67 trains is five cars
