Saklıkent (Tlos)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Saklıkent , also Saklı Kent ( Turkish for 'hidden city' ), is a tourist town near Tlos in Turkey .

Near the ancient city of Tlos (near Fethiye ), a tributary of the Eşen Çayı , also called Xanthos or Kocaçay, breaks through the rocky highlands in a gorge up to 300 m high into the lowlands.

The gorge is used commercially. For an entrance fee, you can walk the first 200 m on footbridges built into the rock walls. A small restaurant was then built there, from where you can wade further into the gorge with or without a guide.

There are several spring pots at the restaurant that pour out large amounts of water.

In the area there are some guest houses (including tree hotels) and restaurants. There is a regular bus service with dolmuş and minibuses to Fethiye .
