Sako Cheskija
Sako Cheskija ( Bulgarian Зако Хеския , English transcription Zako Heskija , also Zako Heskia ; born September 21, 1922 in Istanbul , † June 3, 2006 in Sofia ) was a Bulgarian film director and screenwriter.
Cheskija became known with his film "Gorechto Pladne" (Torrid Noon). In 1966 it was the first Bulgarian entry at the Cannes International Film Festival and a nomination for the Palme d'Or. In 1981 he won the special prize at the Moscow International Film Festival with the film " My Friend, the Pirate " .
Sako Cheskija worked with the formerly state-run Bojana film studio in Sofia.
