genealogy

  • Nobumori ( 信 盛 ; 1527? –1582) served Oda Nobunaga and was lord of Yamasaki Castle. Nobumori was involved as a general in the suppression of the Nagashima Ikkō uprisings in 1572 . He besieged the Hongan-ji temple in Osaka for five years from 1576 to 1580 . Because of this failure, he was exiled to the Kōya monastery .
  • Morimasa (盛 政 ; 1554–1583) served Shibata Katsuie and was administrator of Oyama Castle in Kaga Province . In 1583 he defeated and killed in the Battle of Shizugatake Nakagawa Kiyohide ( 中 川 清秀 ; 1542–1583). After this success, Katsuie called him back because Toyotomi Hideyoshi was approaching with an army. Morimasa did not follow orders, fought with Hideyoshi's forces, was beaten and fled. However, he was caught and beheaded at Rokujō-gawara near Kyoto.
  • Yasumasa ( 安 政 ; 1555-1627) surrendered after the defeat of Shizugatake Hideyoshi. After the Battle of Sekigahara in 1600, he received Iiyama Castle in Shinano Province with an income of 30,000 koku . The family died out in 1638.

Remarks

  1. Rokujō-gawara ( 六條 磧 ) was a normally dry part of the Kamo River southeast of what was then Kyoto, which served as a place for beheadings, including after the Battle of Sekigahara.
