Salah Abdel-Shafi (* 1962 in Gaza ) is a Palestinian economist and diplomat .

Abdel-Shafi is the son of the Palestinian politician Haidar Abdel-Shafi .

He studied economics at the Berlin School of Economics and completed his academic training in 2001 at the John F. Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University . He was involved in the preparation of the Geneva Initiative in 2003. From 2006 to 2010 he was General Delegate for the Palestinian Territories in Stockholm , Sweden . From August 2010 to August 2013 he was Ambassador of Palestine and head of the Palestine Diplomatic Mission in Germany. He has been the Palestinian ambassador to Austria since September 2013 and also to Slovenia since October 15, 2014 , and a permanent representative at the international organizations based in Vienna .
