Salamanca is a Chilean city and municipality in the province of Choapa, Región de Coquimbo . It is located 30 km (19 miles) east of Illapel , the administrative center of the province, and 316 km (196 miles) north of Santiago . Salamanca is usually approached from the city of Los Vilos. This is on the Panamericana and connects the place with the rest of the country.
