The Salar de Capur is a salt marsh in the Atacama Desert in northern Chile . It is embedded in the high Puna on Cerro Capur (5,204 m) about 50 km south of the Socaire oasis in the municipality of San Pedro de Atacama .
The Salar de Capur is the depression of a relatively small water catchment area of 121.8 km² with eleven tributaries. On its total area of 27 km² there is a seasonally changing open water area from 0.07 to 6.15 km². The water volume varies from 65,000 to two million cubic meters.
