Salim Basol

Salim Başol (* 1905 in Yozgat ; † February 28, 1990 ) was a Turkish lawyer , a full member of the Constitutional Court and presiding judge in the Yassıada trials .

Life

Basol graduated in 1928 with a degree in Law at the University of Ankara and was in 1930 a judge in Niksar appointed. In the following years he worked in several districts as a criminal judge, later as a member and president of the Grand Criminal Chamber in Istanbul .

On November 10, 1949, Başol was appointed a member of the Court of Cassation and on December 18, 1954, was elected Vice-President. While he was chairing the first criminal division of the Court of Cassation, the National Unity Committee appointed him presiding judge in the Yassıada trials after the military coup of May 27, 1960.

After these trials he returned to the Court of Cassation as a judge, was appointed a full member of the Constitutional Court on May 2, 1962 and worked there until his retirement on July 14, 1970.
