Salim Sayegh

Salim Sayegh (born March 15, 1935 in Rumaimin , Jordan ) was Patriarchal Vicar for Jordan in the Latin Patriarchate of Jerusalem .

Life

Salim Sayegh was ordained a priest on June 28, 1959 and was named titular bishop of Aquae in Proconsulari by Pope John Paul II in 1981 and was appointed auxiliary bishop in the Latin Patriarchate of Jerusalem. He was ordained bishop on January 6, 1982 by Pope John Paul II; Co- consecrators were the Curia Archbishop and later Cardinal Eduardo Martínez Somalo and the Archbishop of São Salvador da Bahia and later Cardinal Lucas Moreira Neves .

As auxiliary bishop in the Latin Patriarchate of Jerusalem, he was Patriarchal Vicar for Jordan until 2012. His age-related resignation was accepted by Pope Benedict XVI. on January 19, 2012.
