The Salmon River (English for "salmon river") is a 28 km long river in the south of the Canadian province of Newfoundland and Labrador belonging island Newfoundland .

River course

The Salmon River forms the outlet of a nameless lake located about 230  m high in the south of Newfoundland, 24 km east of the village of St. Alban's . It flows mainly in a southerly direction. It flows through several smaller lakes. The course of the river has numerous river widenings and rapids. The Salmon River finally flows into the Cinq Islands Bay , a small side bay of Fortune Bay . The estuary is 4 km southwest of Pool's Cove village . The road to Pool's Cove crosses the Salmon River 1.5 miles above the estuary. The approximately 160 km² catchment area of the Salmon River borders in the east on that of the Bay du Nord River .
