Salsa Picante is a German salsa band.

history

Salsa Picante was founded in 1981 in Düsseldorf by Thomas Kukulies, Georg Corman, Günther Rink and Martin Hesselbach and had its first public appearance on May 30 of the same year.

In 1983 she toured Cuba and released the first album A Bailar la Salsa with the Venezuelan singer Alberto Romero. In 1984 the band was awarded the German Broadcasting Prize in Germany. In the same year joint appearances with Irakere , Rubén Blades and Tito Puente followed .

In 1986 they were special guests at Eddie Palmieri . The band toured 30 cities in Germany with a total of 150,000 spectators. The album Sabrosita reached the top 10 in the Dutch charts, the single Rebellate José was No. 1 in the charts in El Salvador .

1987 TV production with Miguel Algarin and recording of the third album Opus de Salsa , which was the first salsa album worldwide to be released on DAT. In 1992 the band appeared on several radio and television programs, including a. with guest singer Yma América Martinez , who composed and sang the Bacardi commercial song Juegalo in 1998 . 2002 Salsa Picante was the first salsa band on the Düsseldorf Rosenmontagszug played.
