Saludos Amigos (German: Hallo, Freunde ) is a song from the film of the same name (German title Drei Caballeros im Samba fever ). The song was used in the opening credits of the cartoon, which premiered on August 24, 1942 in Rio de Janeiro .

The text states that every new day is waiting to be greeted with a warm handshake and happiness in the heart. Shake hands friends. Walt Disney heard the song while visiting Brazil in 1941 and found the title apt for his animated film Saludos Amigos ( Three Caballeros in Samba Fever ).

At the Academy Awards in 1944 , Charles Wolcott and Ned Washington were nominated for the trophy in the "Best Song" category, but were beaten by Harry Warren and Mack Gordon and their song You'll Never Know from the film Hello Frisco, Hello .
