Charles Wolcott

Charles Wolcott (born September 29, 1906 in Flint , Michigan , United States , † January 26, 1987 in Haifa , Israel ) was an American music director , composer and film composer .

Life

Wolcott was hired by Disney in the late 1930s , where he worked on orchestrating the music for Pinocchio in 1940 . His work remained unnamed in the credits, the same applied to his film music compositions for the animation - short film Mr. Duck Steps Out in the same year and several other films until 1946. After he also worked on the orchestration of Bambi and since 1941 songs for Had contributed to Disney productions, he first worked as music director at Drei Caballeros in Samba Fever . For this and for the song of the same name, he received an Oscar nomination. Two more Oscar nominations followed in 1946 and 1948, but he was never able to accept the award. With the beginning of the 1950s Wolcott no longer worked for Disney and was last only occasionally active as a conductor . He contributed soundtracks to the films The Seed of Violence and The Cat on a Hot Tin Roof , but was not named in the credits. In 1960 he worked in the film business for the last time, although earlier titles were also used later in some films.

For Ridvanfest 1961 he was in the International Council of the Bahai appointed -Religion and 1963 he was in the House of Justice elected in Haifa, where he worked until his death 1987th
