Salvatore Maira

Salvatore Maira (born September 20, 1947 in San Cataldo ) is an Italian film director and screenwriter .

Life

Maira graduated in literary studies and philosophy and then worked as a lecturer in Italian literature at the University of Rome . He wrote articles and essays and produced audiovisual media. In 1976 he made his debut as a director of a television film; later he wrote a screenplay for Andrea Frezza . Finally, in 1991, he began a series of cinema films that put female characters from different eras and each with their own personal and social problems at the center of their action - Riflessi in un cielo scuro describes the way out of drug and alcohol addiction, Donne in un giorno di festa the theme of religion, Amor nello specchio is set in the Middle Ages. In the new millennium, Maira turned to documentary film ; only in 2007 did another feature film appear with Valzer . He has received several awards, including a. for the best leading actress with the Premio Pasinetti .
