The Salzachpongau is the name given to that part of the Pongau through which the Salzach and its tributaries flow.

Demarcation

An imaginary north-south line runs through the Pongau, separating the Salzach Pongau from the Ennspongau , which lies further to the east . The Fritztal lies on the border from the Salzachpongau to the Ennspongau .

history

The Salzach-Pongau was donated to the Archbishopric of Salzburg in the Middle Ages and was settled by Maierhöfe in the early Middle Ages .
