Boiled potatoes in salt water boiled potatoes which, unlike potatoes are peeled, before. They are one of the traditional side dishes , especially in German cuisine . For this very simple method of preparation, the potatoes are peeled with a potato peeler or knife, cut into pieces depending on the size, put in cold salted water, boiled and cooked in gently boiling water for about 20 minutes. Before serving, the liquid is poured off and the potatoes are left to evaporate in the hot pot.

If the potatoes are then tossed in butter, they are called pan or butter potatoes . In restaurants they are often with herbs refined and then for example as parsley - or dill potatoes served.
