Sam Cutler (* 1943 near London , England ) was best known as the tour manager of the Rolling Stones and the band Grateful Dead .

biography

In the second half of the 1960s, the trained teacher Cutler organized the performances of various rock bands and performers, including Pink Floyd , Eric Clapton , the Rolling Stones , Alexis Korner and others. In 1969 he coordinated the Rolling Stones concert in London's Hyde Park and the band's American tour, which culminated in the Altamont Free Concert and is documented in the film Gimme Shelter . On the live album Get Yer Ya-Ya's Out! Hear Cutler announce the Stones, recorded while touring America in November 1969.

Cutler stayed in America and became tour manager and agent for the band Grateful Dead . With his company "Out of Town Tours" Cutler coordinated the performances of numerous artists, including the Grateful Dead, The Band , The Allman Brothers Band , The New Riders of the Purple Sage , The Sons of Champlin , Mike Bloomfield , Ramblin 'Jack Elliott and others .

In 2010 Sam Cutler published his autobiography You Can't Always Get What You Want: My Life with the Rolling Stones, the Grateful Dead and Other Wonderful Reprobates .
