Sam Neely (born August 12, 1948 in Cuero , Texas , † July 19, 2006 in Corpus Christi , Texas) was an American country singer, songwriter and producer.

Life

Sam Neely, who grew up in Corpus Christi , began his musical career as a guitarist with various local bands. In 1966 he made his first record with the Buckle group . An important step in his career took place two years later when he composed the soundtrack for the film Tilt . A little later he received a record deal from the renowned Capitol Records label. His first single, Lovin 'You Just Crossed My Mind , became a mean hit.

After producing two long-playing records , he moved to A&M Records in 1974 and shortly afterwards to Elektra Records . His singles never got above the middle of the charts. However, he was able to place himself in the lucrative pop charts a few times. In 1978 he returned to Corpus Christi, where he initially worked mainly as songwriting. Among other things, he composed songs for the soundtrack for two feature films. He opened a club in which he himself performed frequently. From 1983 he released some records with MCA Records . Despite his musical closeness to the mainstream, he still failed to achieve great success.

In the late 1990s, Sam Neely became a co-owner of Taliesyn Music, a company that produced music sequences for computer games and commercials.
