history

Sambleben is first mentioned in 1146 as Tscampenlowe and Zcampenleve. From 1201 the noble family "von Sambleben" is proven in the place. The moated castle belonging to him in the village is first mentioned in 1377. After the family died out in 1587, the manor was owned by the wife of Duke Heinrich Julius von Braunschweig-Wolfenbüttel for several decades . Later it went to the von Cramm family as a fief . Around 1700, the von Cramm family had today's Sambleben Castle built on the site of the moated castle. The church directly at the entrance to the manor was rebuilt around 1770, but the tower still dates from the Middle Ages.

Since the territorial reform in 1974 Sambleben is no longer an independent municipality, but a part of the city of Schöppenstedt .
