Samhlada

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Samhlada ( Sanskrit संह्लाद saṁhlāda m. "Brüller") or Samhrada ( saṁhrāda ) is a Daitya , son of the demon king Hiranyakashipu in Indian mythology . His mother was Kayadhu , a Danava . His brothers were Anuhlada , Hlada and Prahlada . The Harivamsha names Sunda and Nisunda as his sons . In the Mahabharata , however , Sunda and Upasunda are the sons of Nisunda. Elsewhere in the Harivamsha, the (three) sons of Samhlada are referred to as the Nivatakavachas ("wearers of impenetrable armor").

According to the Mahabharata , he embodied himself as a human being in Shalya , king of Madra , brother of Madri and uncle of Nakula and Sahadeva .
