Sammy Baloji
Sammy Baloji (born December 29, 1978 in Lubumbashi , Katanga Province ) is a Congolese photographer and video artist .
life and work
Sammy Baloji studied human sciences at the University of Lubumbashi and photography and video at the École supérieure des arts décoratifs de Strasbourg .
Ethnography , architecture and urbanism are constantly recurring themes in his art. Met Mémoire (2006) is a photo series about the copper mines of Katanga and En Mémoire is an experimental film that Baloji made in 2006 in collaboration with Faustin Linyekula .
In 2017 Sammy Baloji was a participant in documenta 14 .
