Samuel Rivas is a retired Mexican soccer player who played in midfield . Today he works as the head coach of the U-16 team at CD Chivas USA .

Life

Rivas began his professional career at CSD Jalisco , for which he made his debut in the Mexican Primera División in a game played against the Tigres de la UANL on September 22, 1979 , which was lost 4-2. His first goal in the top Mexican league was the winning goal for the 1-0 win against Unión de Curtidores on February 20, 1980.

When the CSD Jalisco relegated to the second division at the end of the 1979/80 season, Rivas moved to city rivals Chivas , with whom he was under contract for the next five years between 1980 and 1985 and with whom he twice in the 1982/83 and 1983/84 seasons was runner-up in a row. After a year-long stint at Atlético Morelia in the 1985/86 season, Rivas ended his footballing career (at least in the first Mexican division) at the Tigres de la UANL, against which he had once played his first first division game.

Since 2009 at the latest he has been the head coach of the U-16 team at CD Chivas USA.
