from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Samuelis Baumgarte Galerie is an art gallery founded in Bielefeld in 1975 .

history

The gallery emerged from the gallery founded in 1975 by the artist and gallery owner Ruth Baumgarte under the name Das Fenster . In 1985 Ruth Baumgarte's son Alexander Baumgarte took over the company, which was renamed Samuelis Baumgarte Galerie . In 2005 the gallery moved into a former bank branch and now has around 1000 square meters of exhibition space.

The gallery is a member of the Federal Association of German Galleries and Art Dealers and shows internationally known positions of contemporary art, modern classics and young experimental tendencies in changing exhibitions. The focus is on the cross-media presentation of established and young art, but also on the active communication of artists to museums and art institutions. Between 1975 and 2020 there were around 300 solo and thematic group exhibitions in the gallery. In the Artfacts ranking, the gallery was among the “Top 100” for Germany in 2020, but is not among the top 10 there, which are also consistently perceived internationally.

The gallery regularly takes part in national art fairs such as Art Cologne and Cologne Fine Art . In 1998 the gallery announced its participation in the Art Forum Berlin .
