Samurai Deeper Kyo
Samurai Deeper Kyo ( Japaneseサ ム ラ イ デ ィ パ ー KYO Samurai Dīpā Kyo ) is a manga series by Akimine Kamijō . It is aimed primarily at a young, male readership, so it belongs to the Shōnen genre. The manga, which was published from 1999 to 2006, comprises around 6,700 pages, was implemented as an anime and translated into several languages.
action
The action takes place in Japan in 1604, four years after the Battle of Sekigahara . The legendary murderous fighter Demoneye Kyo is in the body of the drug dealer Kyoshiro Mibu. While he only wants to lead a normal life, Kyo is looking for his real body. On the wandering Kyoshiro meets the bounty hunter Yuya Shiina, who eventually accompanies him because of the bounty that is on Kyo. On their journey they meet Kyo's old enemies and find new companions. Yuya and Kyoshiro are never sure whether they can rely on Kyo's support, who always appears in great danger and apparently enjoys killing. As a child he was cursed by a wolf who he wanted to forbid from killing a sheep. Because of this curse, a struggle between good and evil rages within him.
Publications
The manga series was published weekly from October 1999 to May 2006 in individual chapters in the manga magazine Shōnen Magazine . The Kōdansha publishing house also brought out these individual chapters in 38 edited volumes. By autumn 2002, the volumes published by then had sold over seven million times.
Samurai Deeper Kyo has been exported to several countries. He appeared in the United States, the United Kingdom and Canada with Tokyopop , in France with Kana , in Denmark with Mangismo , in Indonesia with Elex Media Komputindo , in Malaysia with Komik Remaja and in Spain with Glénat . In German the published Heyne publishing the anthologies since March 2007. After 18 volumes, the publication was canceled.

Based on the manga template, a 26-part anime television series was created in Studio Deen . Directed by Junji Nishimura . Although the series does not follow the manga in every detail, it sticks relatively closely to the plot of its original. The television station TV Tokyo first broadcast the 26 episodes from July 2 to December 23, 2002 on Japanese television. After broadcasting on television, the anime was released on nine DVDs.
The television series was also released in France, Italy and the United States.
