Samyang Optics Company Limited is a South Korean company founded in Seoul in 1972 that manufactures photo and optical lenses, as well as components for surveillance cameras and electric cars. The company headquarters and the entire production are located in the South Korean port city of Masan . In 2004 the company merged with the Japanese surveillance camera manufacturer Seikou .

Samyang is best known for the production of manual interchangeable lenses for single lens reflex cameras and mirrorless system cameras . Originally, all interchangeable lenses were manufactured with a T2 connection and could be adapted to all common lens connections with lens adapters. In the meantime, the interchangeable lenses are also manufactured directly with the lens connections of the common manufacturers, but T2 is still available.

Samyang also manufactures lenses for compact cameras as sub-assemblies for large camera manufacturers.

In addition to its own Samyang lenses, the company has always developed and manufactured lenses for other manufacturers and with other lens connections , which are then sold under their brand names. It was manufactured for the brands Walimex , Vivitar , Prakticar / Beroflex , Rokinon, Bower, Opteka and Pro-Optic , among others .
