Life

Even as a child he was enthusiastic about his parents' jazz and gospel records and so his classical piano lessons ended after a few years with improvising first blues pieces. At the age of 17, San2 attended the Blues to Bop Festival in Lugano. There he met Carey Bell and then self-taught himself to play the harmonica . According to his own statements, he happened to be on stage with Wilson Pickett only a little later and came into possession of James Brown's fly at a concert . These experiences would have motivated him to become a singer and entertainer. San2 got his stage name as a graffiti painter at the age of 15 .

From 2001 to 2002, San2 spent a year in San Francisco . As a blues harp player and emcee , he first worked with local greats in the Bay Area . At Berkeley University he took the subjects of drawing and painting. Between 2003 and 2007, San2 studied communication design in Nuremberg and graduated as a graphic designer (FH). In 2005 he founded his own band "San2 & His Soul Patrol", which is now known far beyond southern Germany. Joint appearances with "Emergency Room" (feat. Reggy Worthy) and with Carl-Ludwig Reichert's group "Wuide Wachl" followed. In 2009, San2 was accepted into the Hohner Artist Gallery. His freelance work as an illustrator and typographer was selected at the Swatch & MTV Playground in 2010 and shown at events around the world. The work can also be seen in excerpts on behance.net.

From 2008 to 2011 San2 lived and worked in Amsterdam . In early 2011, San2's debut album Rebirth of Soul & Recycling the Blues was released on the independent label 2strokeRecords. Together with his long-time guitarist and companion Sebastian Schwarzenberger , he created his own live program as a duo. In 2013 they produced the album Absolutely Barefoot together. At the same time, San2 worked with his pianist Nick Flade on the “Munich Sessions”. In this project, San2 invited well-known musicians from the Munich scene to participate, including guitarist Titus Vollmer , Ludwig Seuss , bluesurgestein Dr. Will , Pete Wrba and many more. In 2014 he took part in RTL's talent show Rising Star and reached the finals with his partner Sebastian Schwarzenberger.

In 2015, San2 was able to win Geoff Gascoyne as producer for his new album Hold On . The British jazz musician discovered Jamie Cullum in 2001 , was his musical director and played a key role in Cullum's successful albums. Hold On was recorded with San2's band and several international guest musicians, including British soul singer Louise Clare Marshall . The album was produced in London and Munich and was released in April 2016 on nordpolrecords and in 2017 on Sony / Capriola as an "Extended Edition".

In addition to numerous radio and television appearances, San2 and his Soul Patrol have also become known to a larger audience through joint concerts with the New York brass band The Lucky Chops and as the opening act for world jazz star Jamie Cullum .
