San (unit)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The San was a measure of area and field in Armenia and in the Governorate of Tauria . A distinction was made between the large and the small San with greater application. These measurements were stipulated on January 24, 1829 with the order No. 2617.

  • 1 large san = 12,000 square sashes (Russian) = 5 dessjatine (Russian = 10925.4 square meters ) = 546 ¼ ares
  • 1 small San = 7,200 square sashes (Russian) = 3 Dessjatine (Russian) = 327 ¾ ar

Beyond these two dimensions there was also the biljuk or kaitüm, the tan, also tachta or yarümtscha, and the bostan for the same purpose. Two measures without a specific size were the pai, the field and the kissek.

  • 1 Biljuk / Kaitüm = 1 dessiatine (Russian) = 109 ¼ Ar
  • 1 Tan / Tachta / Yarimcha = ½ Dessjatine (Russian) = 54 5/8 ares
  • 1 Bostan = 10,000 square sashes (Russian ≈ 4.55 square meters) = 4 1/6 dessjatine = 455 1/5 ares
