Attractions
- The facade of the local church, which was built in the 17th century, was again painted in color in 2008 and contains a colorful mixture of European and indigenous stylistic and decorative elements. The wealth of figures with around 200 saints and angels of all kinds is remarkable; some angels even sit on the cornices that structure the facade and let their legs dangle. The interior of the church, bathed in gloomy light, is largely unadorned.
- A chapel ( calvario ), which was probably built only a short time later, mimics the style of the main church on a smaller scale.
- San Andrés Xecul is also home to one of the Maximón figures more common in the highlands of Guatemala . Next to him is a bed.
