San Camillo de Lellis (Latin: Sancti Camilli de Lellis ad Hortos Sallustianos ; German: Kamillus von Lellis Church ) is a titular church in Rome .

history

The church was at the initiative of Pope Pius X. by architect Tullio Passarelli planned. The foundation stone was laid in 1906 by Antonio Cardinal Agliardi . On May 10, 1910, the church was consecrated as a parish church by Cardinal Vicar Pietro Respighi with the decree costitutionem and entrusted to the order of the Camillians for use. On February 5, 1965 she was by Pope Paul VI. with the Apostolic Constitution Sacris Romanae Ecclesiae raised to the Basilica minor and titular church of the Roman Catholic Church . Namesake is Kamillus von Lellis , one of the great Caritas saints of the church.

The church, built between 1906 and 1910, is on the corner of Via Piemonte and Via Sallustiana in Rome- Sallustiano . Under the church was part of the aqua Sallustiana , a water connection that came from the gardens of Sallustius and flowed into the valley between the Quirinal and the Pincio.

In addition to being used as a church of the Camillian Order , it is the parish church of the Parrocchia San Camillo de Lellis .
