The San Carlos Point is a Cape in the northeast of the West Antarctic James Ross Island . It limits the entrance from the Prinz Gustav Canal to Brandy Bay to the southwest .
Here participants of the 16th Argentine Antarctic Expedition (1958–1959) under Adolfo A. R. Schultze built a refuge under the name Regufio San Carlos . As a result of the geological work of the British Antarctic Survey between 1981 and 1983, the cape was named Brandy Point based on the neighboring bay . However, this name was changed to the current name in 1984 by the UK Antarctic Place-Names Committee .
