San Miguel is the capital of the eponymous department of San Miguel in the province of Corrientes in northeast Argentina . In the classification of communes in the province of Corrientes, the place belongs to the 2nd category.

history

San Miguel was the end of the year 1810 by exiled Guaranís from the Jesuit reductions Corpus , Candelaria and San Carlos established that before the Bandeirantes from Brazil had fled. Shortly after its foundation, the famous French naturalist Alcide d'Orbigny , who was the first to research the Esteros del Iberá , settled here.
