history
The original brewery was founded by a Spaniard in Manila in 1890 . San Miguel Corporation is primarily a food manufacturer and brews San Miguel beer , which is exported around the world and is one of the 15 best-selling types of beer. It is the best-selling beer in the Philippines , Hong Kong, and southern China . In Europe, San Miguel beer is produced by the subsidiary in Spain , which has been independent since 1953 and which has now merged with the Spanish brewery Mahou to form Mahou San Miguel .
The company has over 100 plants in the Philippines , Southeast Asia , China and Australia .
Today San Miguel is the largest food and beverage manufacturer in Southeast Asia.
San Miguel also produces Miller , Löwenbräu and Carlsberg beers under license . It is also a licensed manufacturer of Coca-Cola in the Philippines . In contrast, the San Miguel beer is produced under license in Nepal.
The company owns Boag's Brewery , established in Australia . The President and CEO of the Group is Eduardo Cojuangco Jr .
In addition, San Miguel is also looking for customers in Australia. The company primarily produces dairy products there.
Other areas of business are packaging production, real estate business and the operation of toll roads in the Philippines. The San Miguel Corporation continues to have stakes in power plants and is the majority owner of Petron Corporation , the largest oil refiner in the Philippines.
