Sanbittèr is a non-alcoholic , bitter drink that is used to prepare cocktails . Its red color and the taste of citrus fruits and herbs are characteristic. Sanbittèr consists of carbonated water, sugar, flavorings, citric acid , color carmine (E120) .

history

The drink was created by San Pellegrino in 1961 under the name "Bitter Sanpellegrino" and renamed "Sanbittèr" in 1985. Today Sanbittèr belongs to the product group "lemonades and bitter drinks" of the Nestlé company Sanpellegrino .

variants

In addition to the classic red Sanbittèr Rosso, there is Sanbittèr Dry without coloring (since 1980) and Sanbittèr Gold (yellow). For the 50th anniversary in 2011, several mixed drinks were created under the name Sanbittèr Emozioni di Frutta (grapefruit, cinnamon, peperoncino , passion fruit).

use

Sanbittèr is used for mixing cocktails as a non-alcoholic substitute for bitter liquors like Campari . One of the most famous cocktails with Sanbittèr is the Bitterman's Friend , which was developed at Schumann’s in 2008 .
