Sanderock Island (in Norwegian, Storneskalven ) is an island off the Ingrid Christensen coast of the East Antarctic Princess Elisabeth Land . It is located immediately north of the Stornes peninsula in the Larsemann Hills area .
Norwegian cartographers mapped them in 1946 using aerial photographs of the Norwegian Lars Christensen Expedition in 1936/37 . The Antarctic Names Committee of Australia named them after the flight squadron leader James C. Sandercock of the Royal Australian Air Force , flight dispatcher at Mawson Station in 1959.
