Sandra Švaljek

Sandra Švaljek (born February 23, 1970 in Krapina , Croatia ) is a Croatian economist, politician and Deputy Governor of the Croatian National Bank

She was the acting mayor of Zagreb from November 21, 2014 to March 9, 2015 .

Life

Švaljek received his doctorate in 2000 with the dissertation “Budget deficit and national debt: Politics, theory and empiricism” and then worked at the Institute for Economics, Zagreb. She was director of the institute for eight years.

Her special areas of interest are fiscal and tax policy and the economic effects of aging. From 2000 to 2013 she was a member of the Council of the Croatian National Bank .

Švaljek was Prime Minister Jadranka Kosor's economic advisor from 2010 to 2011 . She is also the author and co-author of numerous scientific papers.

Offices

In the direct elections on June 2, 2013, Švaljek was appointed the first deputy mayor of the city of Zagreb. She subsequently held this office until November 20, 2014 and then again from March 10 to March 27, 2015.

When a Zagreb court dismissed Mayor Milan Bandić from office due to his part-time work, she was temporarily - from November 21, 2014 to March 9, 2015 - acting mayor of Zagreb.

After Mayor Bandić handed over the power of attorney to his second deputy Vesna Kusin on March 27, 2015 , Švaljek resigned from her position as first deputy mayor. After resigning, she returned to the Institute for Economics and reactivated her mandate in the Zagreb City Council.
