Sandra Kern (born April 3, 1972 in St. Pölten ) is an Austrian politician ( ÖVP ). Kern was a member of the Austrian Federal Council from October 22, 2015 to January 3, 2019 from the state of Lower Austria .

Life

Sandra Kern attended elementary school in Herzogenburg from 1978 to 1982 and from 1986 to 1991 the higher education institution for tourism in Krems an der Donau , where she also graduated . She attended the university course in Political Communication at Danube University Krems and completed an apprenticeship as a marketing specialist in St. Pölten from 1994 to 1997. Professionally, she worked for six years as the owner of a tutoring institute and self-employed as a trainer.

From 2004 to 2008, Kern set up the “Akademie 2.1” educational academy of the Lower Austrian People's Party . From 2008 to 2013 she was local and organizational officer of the Lower Austrian People's Party. Between 2013 and 2014, Kern was a consultant in the cabinet of the then Interior Minister Johanna Mikl-Leitner . In October 2015, Sandra Kern took over the management of the Lower Austrian Employees' Federation .

Political career

Sandra Kern held her first political mandate in her hometown of Krems, where she was a member of the city ​​council from 2002 to 2010 . On October 22, 2015, she succeeded her party colleague Bernhard Ebner in the Austrian Federal Council , where she was sent by the Lower Austrian state parliament .

After she had caused a drunk driving accident, she resigned her mandate as Federal Councilor in January 2019. After the state parliament session on January 31, 2019, Doris Berger-Grabner took over for them.
