Bernhard Ebner (born March 14, 1973 in Allhartsberg ) is an Austrian politician ( ÖVP ). On October 19, 2015 he was appointed regional manager of the People's Party of Lower Austria (VPNÖ). He was a member of the Austrian Federal Council for Lower Austria from 2013 to 2015 and was sworn in as a member of the Lower Austrian state parliament on October 22, 2015.

education and profession

Ebner attended from 1979 to 1983 the elementary school in St. Georgen am Ybbsfelde , then from 1983 to 1986, the Stiftsgymnasium Seitenstetten From 1986 to 1987, high school Blindenmarkt and from 1987 to 1992, the HTBLuVA of Industrial Technology in St. Poelten , where he Matura took off . Ebner worked as a technician at Umdasch-Doka from 1993 to 2003 and between 2003 and 2008 he was a local officer for the Lower Austria People's Party. He then worked between 2008 and 2013 as an organizational officer for the Lower Austrian People's Party and since 2013 has been the regional manager of NÖAAB. After Gerhard Karner moved to the Presidium of the Lower Austrian Landtag, Ebner was unanimously appointed by the State Party Board as the new State Managing Director of the People's Party.

Politics and functions

Ebner began his political career in 1991 as a community group chairman of the Young People's Party of St. Georgen am Ybbsfelde, where he held this position until 2004. Furthermore, from 1995 to 2005 he was a member of the parish council of St. Georgen am Ybbsfelde. In 2005 he moved to the market town of Allhartsberg as a managing member of the municipality and has been a member of the municipal council of the market town of Allhartsberg since 2010. On April 24, 2013, he was elected a member of the Federal Council. He held this position until October 22, 2015. On this day he was sworn in as a member of the Lower Austrian state parliament.

Ebner has been a member of the district executive committee of the ÖVP Amstetten since 1999 and worked within the party from 2004 to 2011 as the communal party chairman of the ÖVP Allhartsberg. From 1995 to 2005 he was also a member of the parish board of the ÖVP St. Georgen am Ybbsfelde and from 2001 to 2004 he was also the financial advisor of the Young People's Party (JVP) Lower Austria. In addition, from 1999 to 2004 he was district chairman of the young ÖVP (JVP) Amstetten. Since 2005 he has been chairman of the municipal council of the ÖVP von Allhartsberg and since 2012 a member of the Lower Austrian provincial board of the Austrian workers' association (ÖAAB). In 2012 he also took on the role of a member of the district board of the Austrian workers' union in Amstetten.

Trivia

In January 2017 he took over the public defense of the Dr. Erwin Pröll private foundation through personal attacks on the journalist Florian Klenk , see there. In July an out-of-court settlement was reached, the ÖVP and Ebner withdrew the claim that Klenk had created “fake news” with his reports on the foundation. Both of them also had to pay € 7,500 compensation each, which Klenk donated to the Hemayat association .

Ebner has been an honorary member of the Ö.kaV Vitonia Krems student association in the ÖCV since 2019 .
