Josef Balber (born August 11, 1962 in Groisbach ) is an Austrian farmer and politician ( ÖVP ). Balber has been a member of the Lower Austrian state parliament since 2010 .

Life

Balber attended elementary and secondary school and then completed the polytechnic course. He trained at the agricultural vocational school in Warth and the agricultural technical school in Warth, where he completed his professional training as a master of agriculture. Since then he has been working as a farmer in Altenmarkt an der Triesting . He lives in Thenneberg .

Balber began his political career in 1994 as a councilor in Altenmarkt, where he was also elected executive councilor in the same year. He took over the office of Vice Mayor in 2005 and was elected Mayor of Altenmarkt on December 12, 2007. Within the party, he is active as the parish chairman of the ÖVP Altenmarkt / Triesting and district farmer chairman in the Baden district . He was sworn in on October 7, 2010 as a member of the Lower Austrian state parliament, succeeding Helmut Doppler .

In the state election in Lower Austria on January 28, 2018 , Balber was nominated as the top candidate for the peasantry in the Baden district and comes in second on the People's Party list.
