René Lobner (born January 25, 1978 in Vienna ) is an Austrian politician ( ÖVP ). He has been a member of the Lower Austrian state parliament since 2011 and mayor of Gänserndorf since 2015 .

Life

Lobner attended high school in Gänserndorf and passed the Matura in 1996 . He worked professionally as an event manager and restaurateur, is married and has two daughters.

Lobner began his political career as a local councilor of Gänserndorf, in 2005 he was elected to the city council of Gänserndorf, and in 2011 he also took over the internal party function of the local party chairman of the district capital. Until 2013 he was chairman of the Young People's Party in Gänserndorf and city councilor for the environment and waste management as well as city party chairman of the ÖVP in Gänserndorf. Since 2010 he has also been the ÖAAB sub-district chairman in Gänserndorf. On May 19, 2011 Lobner moved up for Herbert Nowohradsky as a member of the state parliament, with Nowohradsky being his political foster father. In the course of the state elections in Lower Austria in 2013 , the farmers' union positioned the mayor of Deutsch-Wagram Friedrich Quirgst as an internal party competitor for Lobner, but Lobner was able to win the election with 5,999 votes in the internal party race for the basic mandate in the Gänserndorf district, who only Received 2,968 votes. He has also been the mayor of Gänserndorf since the 2015 municipal council election.
