Christian Samwald (born June 10, 1980 in Neunkirchen , Lower Austria ) is an Austrian lawyer and politician of the Social Democratic Party of Austria (SPÖ). He was born on March 22, 2018 as a Member of the state parliament of Lower Austria sworn in .

Life

Christian Samwald was born the son of the Ternitz mayor and member of the National Council, Franz Samwald . After primary school in Pottschach, he attended the Bundesgymnasium and Bundesrealgymnasium Neunkirchen, where he graduated in 1998 . After completing his military service at the Theresian Military Academy in Wiener Neustadt , he began studying law at the University of Vienna , completing his master's degree in 2006. In 2006 he also completed the court year at the Neunkirchen District Court and the Wiener Neustadt Regional Court .

From 2000 to 2010 he was a member of the municipality of Ternitz , where he then served as a city councilor until January 2013. On January 28, 2013 he was elected as the successor to Karl Reiterer as Vice Mayor of the municipality of Ternitz, and Rupert Dworak has been the mayor since 2004 . From March 2007 to March 2018, Samwald was deputy club director in the state parliament club of the SPÖ Lower Austria . On March 22, 2018 he was in the constituent state parliament session of the XIX. Legislative term as Member of the Lower Austria state parliament sworn in , where he acts as Club Vice Chairman and spokesman for Construction Law, Civil engineer, water and water management.

After the state election in Lower Austria in 2018 , Rupert Dworak announced his resignation as a member of the state parliament. On June 28, 2018, Christian Samwald took over the direct mandate from Dworak, and René Pfister succeeded the Samwald mandate . In February 2020 it was announced that Samwald would succeed Rupert Dworak as SPÖ district party leader in the Neunkirchen district . The election was originally supposed to take place at the district conference on April 3, 2020, but due to the COVID-19 pandemic , this was postponed to October 16, 2020.
