Elvira Schmidt

Elvira Schmidt (born July 10, 1970 in Eisenstadt ) is an Austrian politician of the Social Democratic Party of Austria (SPÖ). She has been deputy federal party leader of the SPÖ since 2014, and has been a member of the Lower Austrian state parliament since March 2018 .

Life

After elementary and secondary school in Pottendorf, Elvira Schmidt attended the Bundesoberstufenrealgymnasium (BORG) at the Theresianum Eisenstadt , where she graduated in 1988 . She then began studying at the University of Vienna , and from 1990 to 1993 she attended the Pedagogical Academy (PÄDAK) in Baden with a teaching post for secondary schools in the subjects of mathematics, history and computer science. She then worked as a teacher at the Polytechnic School (PTS) in Kottingbrunn until 2011 . Since 2011 she has been the director of the New Middle School (NMS) in Hirtenberg .

Elvira Schmidt belonged since 1995 the local council in Pottendorf on, since 1999 she has been there Gemeindevorstand . Since 2003 she has acted as the SPÖ district women chairwoman in Baden and since 2014 as the SPÖ regional women chairwoman in Lower Austria. Since 2014 she has also been deputy federal party leader of the SPÖ.

On March 22, 2018, she was in the constituent state parliament session of the XIX. Legislative period as a Member of the Lower Austria state parliament sworn in , where she acts as a woman officer. After the election of Franz Schnabl as deputy governor, she took over his vacant state parliament mandate.
