Jürgen Maier (born January 19, 1974 in Horn ) is an Austrian politician ( ÖVP ). Maier has been a member of the state parliament of Lower Austria since 2003 and mayor of the municipality of Horn since 2010 .

After completing elementary and secondary school, Maier attended the commercial academy , which he graduated with the Matura. He then studied business administration and worked for the Niederösterreichische Nachrichten .

Maier was a member of Horn's municipal council from 1998 to 2001 and was elected to the city council in November 2001, where he took over the transport department on the city council. Before that, he had been chairman of the Young People's Party (JVP) in Horn from 1993 to 1998 and in May 1997 also took over the office of district chairman of the JVP. From 1998 to 2001 he held the office of JVP regional chairman deputy and from 2001 to 2004 he was regional chairman of the JVP Lower Austria. Maier has represented the ÖVP in the Lower Austrian state parliament since April 24, 2003 and was elected ÖVP district party chairman in May 2004. From November 2009 he was Vice Mayor of the city of Horn. Maier has served as mayor there since April 2010 .

In his role as Mayor, he is also President of the European Research Center for Book and Paper Conservation-Restoration .
