As a youth spokeswoman for the SPNÖ, Karin Renner was strongly committed to lowering the right to vote to 16 years. Renner justified this in a broadcast: “Lowering the voting age is an important concern for us! At the age of 14, the young people make the decision about their further training and career path - therefore we can trust them without further ado that they can make self-confident and responsible decisions on political issues. "

Renner also campaigned for the nationwide standardization of the protection of minors.

One focus of her state parliament work was on the use against nuclear power. It describes the complete phase-out of nuclear power as ultimately the only viable path. As a trained political scientist, Renner was also heavily involved in constitutional issues, such as the reform of the electoral law.

In addition, regional issues were always important for the woman from the Weinviertel, such as the expansion of the S8 that she called for.

As Deputy Governor, Karin Renner has placed a major focus of her work on consumer protection issues. Renner said in a broadcast: "The tasks in consumer protection are incredibly diverse and an area that I would like to devote myself to. They range from general consumer problems [...] to questions about telephones and mobile phones, [...] but also pricing, [ ...] as well as the topics of insurance and banking. Questions of consumer protection and product safety not only affect more and more areas of people's lives, consumer protection is becoming increasingly important for many consumers in times of complex and sometimes more complicated market relationships. " In addition, according to Renner, she wants to focus more on the many companies in Lower Austria, especially small and medium-sized businesses, and bring them to the fore with their good performance.

On March 22, 2018, she succeeded Franz Gartner as Third President of the State Parliament.
