René Pfister (born September 15, 1982 in Graz ) is an Austrian politician ( SPÖ ). From 2013 to June 2018 he was a member of the Federal Council , and since June 28, 2018 he has been a member of the Lower Austrian state parliament . He lives in Ober-Grafendorf .

education and profession

Pfister attended a preschool in 1988/1989 and the elementary school in Fehring from 1989 to 1993. He attended secondary school in Fehring from 1993 and 1997 and in 1997/1998 at the HTL Weiz for electrical engineering. Then from 1998 to 2002 he did an apprenticeship as an electromechanic for low-voltage current at Austrian Airlines in Schwechat . He also completed an apprenticeship as an office clerk between 2008 and 2009. Pfister has been a member of the Austrian Airlines training workshop since May 2005, and has meanwhile completed his military service at the Zeltweg and Graz-Thalerhof air bases. In August 2010 he was promoted to head of the training workshop at Austrian Airlines.

Politics and functions

Pfister was a youth trust council from 1999 to 2003 and acted from 2003 to September 2011 as national youth chairman of the union of private employees, printing, journalism, paper (GPA-DJP). From 2002 to May 2011 he was Federal Youth Deputy Chairman of the Austrian Youth Union (ÖGJ) and was also elected a member of the federal board of the Austrian Trade Union Confederation in 2002. In March 2004 he took over the position of federal youth chairman of the parliamentary group of social democratic trade unionists (FSG), in March 2006 he also became a member of the works council of the commercial and technical employees of Austrian Airlines. He was subsequently also elected to the Chamber Council in the Chamber of Labor for Lower Austria and also a member of the board of the Chamber of Labor for Lower Austria.

Pfister is involved as deputy chairman of the parliamentary group of social democratic trade unionists (FSG) in the union of private employees, printing, journalism, paper (GPA-djp) Lower Austria. He has also been chairman of the FSG in the Austrian Federation of Trade Unions in Lower Austria since 2011. Pfister ran in the state elections in Lower Austria in 2013 in 14th place on the SPÖ state list. He was then sent to the Federal Council by the state parliament on April 24, 2013.

After the state election in Lower Austria in 2018 , Rupert Dworak announced his resignation as a member of the state parliament. On June 28, 2018, Christian Samwald took over the direct mandate from Dworak , René Pfister took over the state parliament mandate that became available. Andrea Kahofer moved into the Federal Council instead of Pfister.
